Letter to somebody that is worried about the future

by - September 21, 2019

I think we have all been in a position where we have worried about the future. Worried about what is in store for us, or about not having things figured out. We cannot control the future. But, we can control the present.  Don't worry this is not going to be a list where I tell you do this and it'll be sorted out, you won't worry because that simply is not the case. There are things you can do to facilitate your near future, but there is no way of absolutely controlling what will happen. What I will say is that things have a way of working out and there are more paths and opportunities than it may seem at the moment in store.

For me personally one of the things that worried me the most about the future was choosing to do something, realising it was the complete wrong option for me and not being able to go back on it. Maybe you're a little anxious about that too. However, I have come to realise that there really are so many options and that by choosing one door you aren't necessarily closing others. It is never too late to try something new or go down a different path and what you choose will provide you with experience of some sort, which is always valuable.

Another huge thing about the future that can be worrying is that it is uncertain. We don't know what will happen. However, it is impossible to see what opportunities and future options you will have presented. Don't try and plan everything now because there will be things available that are not available to you now. These things will allow you to choose. They will allow you to realise what is right for you- I guess this is what I mean when I say that things have a way of working out.

Finally, it is normal to be sometimes worried about what will happen in the future. But remember, the amazing thing about the future is that whilst you can't control it, you can still change it (or at least aspects of it). Not knowing what will happen is part of the fun and opens so much room for experimentation.
